Their strong UI makes scanning the listings easy, and their filters allow you to search by keyword, location, job role, and job level. Coroflot’s UX design jobsĬoroflot is worth checking regularly if you’re looking for a position with a household name, such as Hewlett Packard, Puma, Volvo, Ford, etc.Ĭoroflot has a fairly active design jobs board, with between three and five new roles at different levels of seniority normally going live on a daily basis. Geographically, their opportunities are split, roughly evenly, between roles based in North America and remote positions. Most of the postings on Authentic Jobs are with smaller companies and startups, although you’ll occasionally find opportunities with the likes of Nasdaq and the Department of Design at Brigham Young University. They offer a wide range of UX/UI and product design roles, as well as senior creative positions such as Creative Director and Director of Marketing. So you’re probably fine checking in once or twice a week. In terms of numbers, Authentic Jobs isn’t a massively active board, with around 30 new roles posted over the last three weeks (as of this writing). Authentic Jobs’ UX boardĪuthentic Jobs describe themselves as the “leading job board for designers, developers, and creative pros.” They boast a great UI, which makes searching through the listings super-easy. On top of this, many of their posts lead directly to Glassdoor, LinkedIn, and ZipRecruiter.ĭespite this, if you’re looking for a UX role in the U.S., Krop is worth checking every week or so, as it does have some interesting opportunities you may not see on the other boards. It must be said, however, their UI could do with some fine-tuning, as the job posts are not well-formatted for an easy read, and key information is a little hard to locate. Their focus is a mix of web design, graphic design, UX design, and product design. Krop takes pride in “connecting creatives with great companies” and has a strong focus on the U.S. However, they do regularly post new job listings, so it is worth checking out Dribble’s opportunities on at least a weekly basis. This can lead to the frustrating feeling of finding that what looks to be a great opportunity was posted a year ago and is no longer available. Unusually, Dribble’s job postings are not in chronological order. Dribble’s focus is on product, graphic, and UX design roles, and they are mainly with small to midsize employers. Their opportunities are split between North America and Europe, with a good amount of remote-friendly positions also listed. Dribbbleĭribbble’s clean, easy to use, and intuitive UI is noticeable straightaway. With roles listed from the likes of Facebook, Twitter, eBay, Cisco, and Starbucks, they have opportunities with the global players, but also plenty of roles with smaller companies and startups. Their intuitive UI makes it easy for you to filter their listings by contract type and category. This platform’s emphasis is on opportunities in UX design, but also in product design, product management, graphic design, and various engineering roles. They offer a number of remote positions and agency jobs, especially via ZipRecruiter. The UX Jobs Board has listings for UX opportunities globally, albeit with a strong US focus. Whether you’re looking for a UX role with a global company or a smaller team, the UX Jobs Board is worth checking daily or almost daily because of its number and range of opportunities. And the platform is extremely user-friendly, with a simple and clear UI, and the ability to search or filter by keyword, seniority, and location. Their openings included positions in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, South Korea, although the vast majority of their openings are US-based. We even spotted a Mattress Designer position. This means that, as well as UX Designer positions, there are openings in Front-End Development, Industrial Design, Art Direction, and Design Professorships. The Interaction Design Association’s jobs board boasts a good number of roles-160 at the time of writing-across the whole spectrum of design. IxDA’s job board is one to keep an eye on if you’re looking for an opportunity in the United States and/or in roles across the design spectrum, rather than just UX. Write them down, schedule reminders, and you’ll be well on your way. We’ll even tell you about how often to check on them if you’re looking for a specific type of role. We’ve chosen 11 of the best job boards out there-a mix of design-specific job boards and ones with a broader focus. Many of the best job postings are only listed on select job boards, which means unless you’re regularly checking a huge number of sites, you may miss them. One of the trickiest things about landing a job in UX design is finding the right job opportunities. Once it locates the relevant one, you’ll be directed to a site to download it. If the player cannot find the codec, it will automatically search for it online. You can also play less used file-types such as Matroska, Ogg, OGM, and more. Is an ongoing conversation about media of all kinds. Something like SiteSucker makes a lot more sense than cloning a site for helping folks archive their work so that it can be accessible for the long term, and building that feature into Reclaim Hosting’s services would be pretty cool. All those database driven sites need to be updated, maintained, and protected from hackers and spam. One option is cloning a site in Installatron on Reclaim Hosting, but that requires a dynamic database for a static copy, why not just suck that site? And while cloning a site using Installatron is cheaper and easier given it’s built into Reclaim offerings, it’s not all that sustainable for us or them. And to reinforce that point, right after I finished sucking this site, a faculty member submitted a support ticket asking the best way to archive a specific moment of a site so that they could compare it with future iterations. I can see more than a few uses for my own sites, not to mention the many others I help support. I don’t pay for that many applications, but this is one that was very much worth the $5 for me. Crazy how simple that was, it makes me want to start working my way through a bunch of old WordPress sites I have and start retiring them to HTML. I uploaded the entire archive to their Reclaim Hosting account and pointed the domain at our nameservers and that was that. I just added the URL as illustrated above and 3 minutes later the entire site was downloaded as static HTML pages. Given this was a custom web tool and they’re planning on building a new site after the move, why not simply package it up with SiteSucker which will provide them an interim home as well as an archive? I was prepared to tell the Reclaimer the migration was a no-go, but then I remembered SiteSucker. There was no export tool (why you gotta be like that?) and I was not going to copy and paste scores of HTML pages. I finally decided to try it when I was migrating a website built with another host’s custom webpage builder. The app costs $4.99 and takes any URL and packages up the entire site (including images and media) into local static HTML files. That said, today I had an occasion to use the Mac tool SiteSucker Tim Owens has been raving about for a while. I share Alan Levine’s passion for trying to archive as much of the work I’ve done online as possible, I’m just not nearly as good at it. I had followed with great interest the discussion on the Reclaim Hosting Community site about archiving a dynamic, database driven site as static HTML files. After migrating to Icefaces 3.3 while click of the command link ,the entire page is getting submitted (Ajax call is not working). I’ve been playing around with a small application that needs to display results of data collection in a chart as a certain selection is made on the jsf page. Currently in icefaces 1.8 on the click of command link, Panel grid will be shown without refreshing the page. So I set myself the task of looking around for libraries that could provide me this charting support. One of the important considerations was that this library had to be compatible with Richfaces, since that was my default jsf library until further notice. It was a pity though that Richfaces didn’t have one, because most of their components seem to be fully fleshed, and I don’t tend to need other components libraries unless they don’t have it. I’d already heard and read about Primefaces, and the reviews were quite positive. It comes with quite an impressive set of components, and will definitely fill in the holes that Richfaces has left quite nicely, with all the cool items like Accordions, Carousels, Docks (for MacOS fans), an IdleMonitor, ImageCropper and the rest. I have a ace:dataTable component, its scrollable. The documentation was also quite detailed from PDF and html docs as well from forums, so I was bound to have a good time, or so I hoped. I “mavened” it and configured it alongside Richfaces, without any complaint. The chart components were quite may and as cool as Primefaces always tends to be, and it’s model was quite easy to work with. For my needs, which is a bar char, all that was needed was something like the ff from their own documentation: All I needed was to create a Map containing text and data points for a pie chart. Sweet! Simply using my own model and basic collections, I had my data all ready to go. Just when I was getting ready to enjoy splattering my pages with charts all over, I came across a problem. The number of points on which data is collected in my application is flexible, therefore I do not know before hand the number of “series” that I have to display. Unfortunately, Primefaces assumes that I know them before hand, in which case all I needed was to specify each p:chartSeries with label and value. User Guide is the complete reference of PrimeFaces, it’s in pdf format and contains over 500 pages covering various topics such as installation, usage of features, full list of component attributes, examples, best practices, tips and much more. Oops, spanner in the works!! I tried to use a ui:repeat to force it to render a dynamic number of p:chartSeries, but that didn’t work. So, my honeymoon with Primefaces charts was ended abruptly. |
